Jerry Irwin Mander (May 1, 1936 – April 11, 2023) was an American activist and author best known for his influential book Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television. In it, he argued that television paves the way for autocracy by isolating viewers and dulling their minds. Mander served as Program Director at the Foundation for Deep Ecology and, in 1994, founded the International Forum on Globalization, a multinational think tank formed as a counterpoint to the World Trade Organization.
