Christopher Lasch (1932–1994) was an American historian, social critic, and Professor of History at the University of Rochester. He is best known for his National Book Award-winning book The Culture of Narcissism. Through his writings, Lasch examined how consumerism and growing dependence on large institutions weakened the self-reliance of individuals, families, and communities, contributing to what he described as a culture of self-centeredness.In this issue, we present a selection of his quotes.
