From The Great Wave to Human – Scale Technology

Dear Friends,

Namaskaram!

Lewis Mumford (19 October 1895 – 26 January 1990) was an American historian, sociologist, philosopher of technology, and literary critic. Particularly noted for his study of cities and urban architecture. In this issue, we have given some of his quotable quotes.

This month, our front page cover story – The Great Wave tells us to respond in a direct resolute way to any situation to achieve success.

In happenings section, we have covered (i) Training programme on “Integrated waste reuse technologies” (ii) “Bee Keeping”  (iii) Awareness Programme on “Green Livelihood technologies” and “Harit Aarogya” (iv) Workshop on “Traditional Siddha Varma Bone Setting Practices” (v)  Commissioning of Bio-methanation plants and (vi) Study tours etc.

In the wisdom section, Aldous Huxley, English philosopher and writer appeals us to revolt in favour of wholeness. A passage from Desiderata, the famous prose poem suggests us to avoid loud and aggressive persons and finally Sailendra Nath Ghosh, the Environmentalist advocates Human – Scale Technology.
