Who can join the Varma course?
Anyone with an interest in Siddha or healing practices can join. There are no educational qualifications required.
Is the course conducted online or offline?
The course is completely offline, held at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.
What is the duration and structure of the course?
Each level of the course runs for 1 year, with six monthly sessions conducted on Fridays and Saturdays.
Timings:
- 9 AM – 5 PM: Theory & Practical
- 5:30 PM – 8 PM: Silambam / Martial Art Practice
- Next Day Morning 5:30 AM – 7 AM: Martial Art Practice
What is the fee, and what does it include?
The total fee for the first year is ₹20,000.
Initial payment: ₹5,550 (includes books, materials, accommodation, and membership)
Remaining: ₹3,000 per class

What certification will I receive?
Each year, a certification is awarded:
- Year 1: Varma Ilanilai Aringar
- Year 2: Varma Muthunilai Aringar
- Year 3: Varma Aasaan
Can I open a Varma clinic after completing the course?
Yes, you can open a clinic after completing all 3 years, preferably under the guidance of a certified doctor.
What happens if I miss a class?
You must attend at least 5 out of 6 sessions in a year. The missed class must be completed in the following year.
Are martial arts like Silambam mandatory?
Martial arts like Silambam, Adimuraigal, and Varma Kalaripayattu are part of the training. Elder participants may observe instead of actively participating.
Are there exams in the course?
Yes. Starting this year, assignments, viva, and practical assessments will be used for evaluation.
Can Ayurvedic doctors join directly in Year 2?
Yes, Ayurvedic doctors may join from Year 2 after discussing directly with the coordinator and fulfilling any prerequisites.
